Title: Error in ATA8-ACS.

Does anyone know why ATA/ATAPI 7 volume 1 documents Media Status Notification in word 127 as well as word 83 and 85 bit 4?

You are asking a good question.  I suspect that word 127 went in to support the ATAPI community…  I believe that Media Status Notification is completely dead and should probably be obsoleted.

Ok, what is the purpose of Word 127 then?

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin

Check words 82 and 85 bit 2.  These are also properly documented in the test as the Removable Media feature set.

It looks to me like words 83 and 86 bit 4 are documented as the Removable Media Status Notification feature set, but there was a cut and paste error in the text.  In T13 documents tables take precedence over text.

I this issue is fixed in rev .2d

And

B F 11 1 = Device Configuration Overlay supported

B F 10 1 = 48-bit Address features set supported

B V 9 1 = Automatic Acoustic Management feature set enabled

The text is correct in the bit definitions and Removable Media Status Notification feature set support is in Word 127.

This error also applied to IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE.

Thanks
