Dear all,
On page 48 of ATA/ATAPI-6, clause 6.16 says "Devices reporting the
value 848Ah in IDENTIFY DEVICE data word 0 _/*or*/_ devices having bit 2
of IDENTIFY DEVICE data word 83 set to one shall support the CFA feature
Set." It means either condition is construed as the support of the CFA
feature Set.
However, on page 120, clause 8.15.9 says "Devices supporting the
CFA feature set shall place the value 848Ah in word 0." it implicates
that only word83[2]=1 could not be construed as the support of the CFA
feature Set, word0 must be 848Ah.
At host, when word0 is not read 848Ah, but word83[2] is read 1 from
the ATA device, is CFA feature set supported or not?
Which kind of condition should I rely on to sufficiently determine
the support of CFA feature set of an ATA device?
