ATA/ATAPI-6 states that "peripherals reporting support for PIO mode 3 or 4 shall power-up in a PIO mode 0, 1, or 2" on page 365 and page 367. However, it does not specifies the initial PIO mode the host shall be. Shall the host be powered-up at PIO mode 0 for compliance with all possible devices? Kepler
