A few more items regarding this review:

I am doing this as an experiment, instead of starting line-by-line reviews, to see how productive .pdf reviews can really be. I am hoping to do a single line-by-line review in the meeting prior to the letter ballot.
Since this is a document review and not a real ballot, anyone is free to comment including non-members.
I would prefer if the comments were made using the ATA8-ACSr3e.pdf file by highlighting the area which you wish to comment and attaching a note.
Comments can be sent to me in the form of an adobe .fdf file (or the marked up .pdf). I will make sure each response document is assigned a number and posted.
Responses will be made as reply’s to the comments and ACS will be updated based on committee review.

I believe that this process will raise the quality of the draft and shorten the letter ballot review process. Since we will be introducing SATA-IO material soon, this process can run in parallel with the SATA-IO proposal reviews. If I can receive review comments by 14-Aug-06, I can have all the material prepared for the meeting. This gives approximately 4 weeks for review.

ATA8-ACSr3e has been posted. e06122r6 has also been posted, this document shows the changes that have been incorporated starting from ACS Rev 3c. There have been over 100 issues closed and almost 100 changes documented from Rev 3c to Rev 3e which was just published. There are currently only 24 open issues, all of which could be resolved at the August meeting. That makes this a very good time to do a detailed review. If anyone is interested in doing a letter ballot comment level review before the actual letter ballot (keeping in mind e06122), this is the right time. I am planning on a similar exercise here at WD.
