Ted,
The DWG output from Protel is an AutoCad output file, I don't think you want
to import this into Visio. You might want to try the DXF output instead,
which is completed the same way, just use the pull down bar and select DXF
instead of DWG.
Personally, I can't bear to use Visio, but you might want to use Protel's
print preview output and select a part of or the whole pcb region in a
composite output, then -File-Export and output the print preview output to a
WMF (windows metafile). You may want to un-check the box that says "save
copy of pcb"
I've found this method to be very flexible and useful for documentation.

Subject: [PEDA] Importing DWG/DXF
Hello,
I am trying to import a DWG file from Protel into Visio. I have done
this with previous boards and know that it is possible, but this design I am
working with will not corporate. When I import the drawing I get the Visio
frame and no matter how much I stretch the frame the board never becomes
visible. Are there known issues with some board designs and Visio? Does
Protel use a special format when exporting DWG files or is it a auto CAD
file?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you
