Hi guys,
I have a goofy one that is really bugging me at the moment. I have
seen it before but not so bad and I just dealt with it under the
circumstances but now I want to understand what is happening.
I had a schematic design and basic component placement, then we
changed one part type in schematic (approx. 30 pieces). At the PCB level
this should have changed an 0603 cap to a 0402 cap. I used the synchronizer
to implement the changes to the placed PCB. The synchronizer changes listed
all the component footprint changes as expected. I ran the synchronization
and the land pattern footprint "fields" were changed, BUT the actual land
patterns did not change. I now have a bunch of 0603 cap land patterns which
list their footprint fields as 0402C. Yes I did have the "Update component
footprints" checkbox checked and the appropriate libraries were listed in
the DDB. I did not get any synchronizer errors listing "footprint not
found".
Now I have had to go into the components (in PCB) and globally edit
all these caps to a third land pattern and then change them back to the
desired land pattern. Why did the land patterns not change through the use
of the synchronizer?
