Mike,

I am abit puzzled. An intranet is also a trade name that is sort of an ftp
like entity, from what I have been told (?).

The broadcasting I believe Protel uses involves LAN tingling. The computer,
on a LAN, listens for this traffic. This approach is different than polling
of a site location to get a free license permission (AutoCAD style). There
is no free lunch though. While it makes Protel faster, as it is not waiting
for a site response, it creates a lot of undesirable network traffic, from
what I have heard. It also has the suffrage of not supporting a shared
Protel license over a router link. Broadcasting info is stripped off by the
router. In the past, I had inquired of Protel if would permit user
configured license control management. I don't know if this will happen.

hi brad,

i believe you've misunderstood. protel allows you to load the
software upon more machines than you have licenses for IF its
on an intranet where it can go out and check if you have exceeded
your number of licenses. chris is not advocating illegal use of
of the software.
