Protel used to allow pin numbers to be edited on the sch but no
longer. The Update Sch process in PCB is not able to create macros that
re-route the Sch wires. End result - you have to do this manually. At
least until someone writes an automatic re-wire server.
On balance, I think I am against being able to edit the pin numbers on the
sch due to the increased chances of stuffing up a design. I am very much
for Protel continuing to increase the integrity of the design process even
possibly at some (minor) loss of flexibility.
