I used to have a PERL script that converted a Protel netlist to the Allegro
netlist format.... you may, however, have to edit the $PACKAGES section in
the done allegro netlist to make sure your library part footprint names
jive.... but that's about it.... I have to see if I can dig it up (this may
take a short while with a pilgrimage to a hard drive stored at my parent's
house across the state)... in the meantime, please feel free to contact me
via email.... You would have to install PERL but it's free and available
from www.activestate.com for windoze....

although, the back annotation would be interesting... I don't necessarily
have a script to go back, although, the was-is might be a possibility... I
forget how to implement that into protel... (is it through a dialog box or
can it be slurped in via a text file like allegro can do?) I also forget
how to generate the was-is from allegro (unless you use PXL, but then
Concept is involved... I think...????, It's been a while...)

Perl sure beats writing Allegro SKILL (cadence's answer to client
basic?????) !!!!!! ;-)

Cheers,
-chris

Subject: [PEDA] Protel Schematic to/from Allegro Layout

Howdy,

Has anyone had experience using Protel schematics with Cadence Allegro
layout? I'd like to generate a Protel schematic netlist for use with Allegro
and back-annotate refdes changes back into Protel.

I am not yet a Protel user, but that may change if these two will play well
together.

Thanks in advance...
