yeah... it's a nice idea and all.. but the question is that how are we going
to sustain some endeavor of this kind? there needs to be some mechanism...
perhaps even a company behind it ... just volunteer effort from community
wont take it for long.. I'm looking at 5-10 years down the line... I'd like
to see FOSS and FOSS members driving the tech corporate culture in Nepal...
and many of us too i believe...
In terms of commitment, although I can commit a lot of time for now.. it
wont be true in the future... There can be a sound guideline over the bounds
that developers and members can follow.... In situations of time
constraints, such modular system will be useful and for people it's much
better to work on a fixed set of goals instead of a giant blob of a vague
vision..
we need to put money in the equation along with freedom if we need to make
it work.. like showing companies... govt.. they'll save/make money with
foss... and same goes for developers... who will put their time into FOSS
projects... and other enthusiasts who will support...
One thing we need to be clear is that FOSS is not totally "social work" and
"altruism," surely, compared to a lot of NGOs who claim to do these things..
we are doing more social work... but we need a far clearer vision if we are
going into the territory... because we'll make some new/old enemies... along
with new friends...
I don't want this to be just another project that managed to get off the
ground but
