About 2yrs earlier we had a beowulf cluster setup in our college, at that
time we used OSCAR for building a cluster, we tested few parallel processing
application (like povray) and ran some self made programs like counting and
timers, it was pretty cool , and yes 10mbps Ethernet switch was a real bug,
but we learned how to do that and experimented, we did it in expense of our
Dashain-tihar vacation. but since we had taken all computers from lab, we
had to give it back to college when vacation was over, so we also lost some
important documentation in the process, I wish we had documented it well. It
was fun going to college when no one were there, opening the lab and working
till evening (we missed local bus couple of time). We had a great learning
opportunity (we even nearly bricked vsat modem of our college once). If
anybody like to start similar kind of project (either for some specific
purpose, or just for learning and fun) I would love to be part of it. that
time me myself, Shankar and Dinesh Simkhada really had a great time. we
worked with 8 (COTS terminal) node mounting them on library rack :) .
