well, i also have a conexant modem, and i was mad at it before i
found the right driver...

Conexant modems fall in two categories. They are HCF and HSF. Before,
you search for the modem drivers, you have to know your modem type.
Easily this can be done by modem detection software (easily
downloadable) or by see the hardware chipset of your modem.

The Linuxant site is dedicated for conexant modems. My Modem is RS 56/
SP -PCI R6793-11 E10849.6 and i found the driver for it in this site.
But....the driver limits the speed to only 14.4kbps. and if u want to
get full output u have to pay for the driver code. Well, although the
speed is slow,,,,it is quite helpful to do some work in linux...Well ,
the drivers are general and they work mostly for all modem types. I
hope this info will be useful in finding the right driver.
