Well, you might have gone through this already but I'm posting this  because
I completed my setup based on this single document. I did, however, go
through the architecture document once to understand the concepts.

For my particular case, I created one single conf file (wapkannel.conf) as
described in the document. For some reason, I could'nt get my version of
kannel to work properly in daemon mode so I launched the boxes from the
command line.

Get the bearerbox running first:
/wapgw/bearerbox -v 1 wapkannel.conf

While the bearerbox is running, bring up the wapbox (or the smsbox) too:
/wapgw/wapbox -v 1 wapkannel.conf

While you are in the initial stage of the tests, you can use some freeware
phone simulator to browse web via kannel. I used a Nokia simulator (really
ugly but free) before testing it on a real phone. I ran the simulator in one
of the machines in the subnet and asked it to use the wapbox as its gateway.
This simple config worked fine for me. Good luck :-)
