FOSS Nepal in a press statement stated that apart from Nepal the other winners were SFD Nicaragua 2007 team and Beijing SFD team. The competition was organised by 'Software Freedom International', a non-profit organisation that coordinates the celebrations worldwide. �Software Freedom Day is a global, grassroots effort to educate the public about the importance of software freedom and the virtues and availability of FOSS," said Subir Pradhanang, FOSS Nepal president. The celebrations this year took place under the banner 'Linux for desktops lets make IT FOSSible' and was jointly organised by FOSS Nepal Community and High Level Commission for Information Technology (HLCIT) for the third successive year with several events including distribution of FOSS, social events, talks, college visits, distro demos, freedom toaster, FOSS solidarity eve, signature campaign, documentary shows, media awareness program and others.
