Hello community,

First ever Document Freedom Day (DFD) is being celebrated on 26th of March
2008 (there was discussion in this list earlier too, initiated by Laxmi ji).

http://www.documentfreedom.org/

The DFD was initiated and is supported by a group of organisations and
companies, including, but not limited to the Free Software Foundation
Europe, ODF Alliance, OpenForum Europe, IBM, Red Hat and Sun Microsystems,
Inc.

Complementary to Software Freedom Day, the community aims to have local
teams all over the world organise events on the last Wednesday of March.
2008 is the first year that Document Freedom Day is being called for.

DFD's main goals are:

   - promotion and adoption of free document formats
   - forming a global network
   - coordination of activities that happen on 26th of March, Document
   Freedom Day

Let's move ahead!

Cheers,
Shankar
