I just found this message while I was experimenting with gnus in emacs and I found this. Heh, first time sending reply using gnus. Ok, that's another story.
I have been really interested in solaris for a while and for many reasons it feels more stable than the current linux distros. I have been playing around with it in my vmware and some features like dtrace are rather cool. We really need to have more discussion about distros like FreeBSD, solaris apart from Linux too. Often times, that's where a lot of innovation is going on which then gets borrowed into linux. I still wont switch to freebsd or solaris(too much of a learning curve for everyday tasks... other than proving a point that it "can be done"). However, for a desktop user, I don't think it would matter a lot what they use because whichever linux, BSD flavour you use, you do end up with similar desktops with almost the same tools. I'm assuming all the drivers and stuff are configured already. On the other hand, at the server side, it does matter which tools you use. Solaris and FreeBSD are more mature in some tasks which sometimes makes them more suitable. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ FOSS Nepal mailing list: [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/foss-nepal To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Community website: http://www.fossnepal.org/ -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
