You will need software to convert normal date/time to Nepali Bikram
Sambat system. I have heard that the conversion is quite simple but
the "Pandits" do not want to discuss it in detail and that after about
50 years, the algorithms used by various people in Nepal diverge by a
day or two. However, I do not have knowledge of this algorithm being
in the open source.

Why don't we make an effort to bring this algorithm in the open so
that everyone can code it simply? Otherwise, the use of Bikram Sambat
will decline.

The database way of doing things is quite popular but it is not an
elegant solution: have a long table from a 100 years patro about which
month has how many days.

There are some free software that people have released for non-
commercial use, but they are not free/open-source.
