Hi,Wouldn't it be better for calling sponsorships for SFD event with a list of reasons as a possible spending if enough donations are collected from SFD event? I feel it would be more strategic to call for donations by listing out goal sets to better justify a donation apeal for SFD. Like maybe an attempt to recognize the existing count of FOSS developer of Nepal and try to create an environment to attract more contributors by having a platform to group on more community projects with (maybe) by running some local community server like that of "SourceForge" for Nepalese FOSS contributors.I feel its really time for the FOSS community to cocoon outside the occasional FOSS trainings, plan on goal sets and take a new step further than that of our last year...That was my reasons to introduce my topic on this sponsorship discussion. If approperiate such reason can be 1 more cause for a possible contributor to sponsor for SFD event like with last year's freedom toster ideas if we had enough fund..... With the call for SFD sponsorship, I felt the community should also parallely plan yearly targets for FOSS promotion which can be put forward as reasons to donate for SFD by a sponsher. Such goal sets besides a sponsorship proposal may be better justify as more compelling reasons for an org to donate for SFD event. My point is, we may have better chance of collecting more donations for SFD if we can market it as a call to meet up new causes as such every year… Prabin....... you would be our favourate star on [Foss-Nepal] if you try to put a little more patience before reaching to conclusions. Dear Bipin,You have a noble viewpoint on this issue. But the problem is that we're not ourselves ready to materialize the whole concept. Partially your point can be implemented, especially the idea of jotting down the objectives and discussing the past success stories in an attempt to attract more sponsors. But the idea of open source servers (e.g. Sourceforge) needs more time and effort, and the deadline (till 20th Sept, 2008) can't be met. Moreover, your idea of drawing analogy between Freedom Toaster and a server like Sourceforge have different scales of effort, budget and maintainability issues inherent. Nevertheless, we can think of it as a post SFD '08 issue. What so ever, we really count on you FOSS enthusiasts to continue on with this show.
