It is true that Microsoft has introduced the Black Screen of Death
among Nepali users of Windows XP Professional, starting September 23.
They had a press conference yesterday to inform the introduction of
this feature. Yes, it is very disrespectful of the users of the
softwares. But this is just a manifestation of the evils of
proprietary softwares.

In my opinion, this is necessary for the message of Free Softwares to
get across. Unless we have strict implementation of our existing laws
and unless multinational software companies exert their interests
among the users here, the message we are trying to spread just gets
lost. Proprietary softwares have to be as evil as we claim they really
are for a common-man to understand what he is missing. When he gets it
for no cost and when he sees no harm in using them, our messages sound
like pure propaganda to them.

I see this as a welcome sign.
