I think Ubuntu is not community friendly in nature(Hey, this my
individual view) anything it does it does only for it's distro, it has
made no contribution almost not any open-source tools. for example,
the beta of both the ubuntu (8.10) and Fedora(10) is out ubuntu has
filled it's release notes with things that only benefits its distro
but just look at the fedora release notes...
Fedora Release Notes:
* New version of PackageKit for managing software, with more fixes
and enhancements (which benefits all distributions)
* New version of PulseAudio (which benefits all distributions)
* Kernel 2.6.27, including better support for WiFi
* Better support for the EFI for Apple Macintosh hardware

RHGB
* Better support for webcams through the hard work in kernel
2.6.27 (which benefits all distributions)
* New icon theme "Echo", to be completed with the theme graphic

* Adding the NetBeans IDE
* Eclipse 3.4
* Automatic installation of multimedia codecs

ubuntu release notes:
Xorg 7.4 brings improved support for automatic configuration of input
hardware, such as keyboards and mice.
3G support: Network Manager 0.7 comes with a number of greatly

Guest sessions: the User Switcher panel applet provides a new option

therefore i think ubuntu defective by design and this is my personal
view
so i don't like ubuntu at all thought it is said to be commited to
Free Software and Mark Shuttle had made many commitments.....
Therefore i shift from distros such as fedora,opensuse,gentoo but i
just don't prefer Ubuntu.....
