Here are some of the outcomes of today's meeting. The primary objective of today's meeting was the formation of 'Pressure group' for curriculum change. The meeting was attended by representatives from MPP, Pravin Dai from Brihaspati Vidya Sadan, representatives from HLCIT, ENRD and myself on behalf of FOSS Nepal.
It was realized that we need the participation of more schools and need to identify those who will have major role in influencing this change. Pravin Dai has agreed to take this lead for lobbying with schools. And we need to consult more people who are directly involved in setting up syllabus of computer besides the officials of CDC. You may be aware that HLCIT has included the promotation of FOSS in their calendar this year. And they plan to give this a continuity. In a sense, they are reviewing their IT policy to prioritize FOSS. In the first phase of pressure generation, it was decided to ask HLCIT, Ministry of Sci. & Tech. , Ministry of Edu. and PABSON for writing a letter to CDC to restructure the syllabus so that it reflects the national IT policy - FOSS. HLCIT has already given consent on sending a letter to CDC. PABSON will be contacted by Pravin dai. We will soon try to get in touch with ministers for the same in the first phase. And besides that, it was realized that we start outlining the changes in the syllabus parallely. Guys, FOSS Nepal has very very important role to play in this aspect. Lets gear up, lets form a team for deciding the changes and outlining the content for the syllabus. Cheers, Jitendra.
