I don't think his problem is being unable to find the poweroff buttons or going to virtual consoles and terminal as he already mentioned pressing poweroff button being useless and Ctrl+Alt+F1 not responding. Just guessing, but is this one of the known issues about Fedora 10 in some systems/situations (poweroff not working or system crashing) ?
