Hi All,

Today I proved that 'little knowledge is really dangerous'. Without any
in-depth knowledge regarding display settings in Ubuntu, I connected my
laptop to an external CRT monitor and experimented the display for a while
setting the display resolution to 1024x768 on both of the laptop and
external monitor. Later on, I disconnected the external monitor from the
laptop and tried to restore my laptop resolution to wider setting (it was
1280x800 previously) but I couldn't see the 1280x800 option in the list. It
was there before I connected and used the external monitor, but now the
largest setting I find is 1024x768 which leaves black spaces on both left
and right side of the laptop screen. How can I restore my laptop resolution
to previous setting (i.e. 1280x800) so that the whole part of the screen is
occupied by the display.

Thanks in advance.
