NCIT Open Source Klub (NOSK) is organizing Open Fest on 11th Sept,
2009.
There are a variety of programs to be organized. They are as follows:
1. Demonstration of Open Source software
Various Open source software alternatives to popular commercial
software will be showcased, some of the open source software include:
Open Source Proprietary
----------------- -----------------
Open office Microsoft Office
GIMP Adobe Photoshop
Firefox Internet Explorer
VLC player Media Player
Blender Maya
This is a free event
2. Demonstration of various open source Unix/Linux operating Systems
Many open source operating systems based on UNIX or Linux will be
demonstrated.
Some open source operating systems are:
- Ubuntu
- Fedora
- OpenSuse
- Mandriva
- Debian
This event is targeted towards people who know very little about
Operating Systems and the choices available. This event shall
showcase different variants of UNIX in comparison to the existing
proprietary Operating Systems.

3. Install Fest
This is one event which has become very popular among the open source
community. Install fest will be interesting and fun to do. We will
install Open Source Software and Operating Systems on laptops of
visitors who are interested in installing them. Visitors will be able
to install any open source software and even a operating system of
their choice on their laptops.

4. Open Art
This event aims to bring out the hidden Picasso in you. Come along,
pick up a canvas and your chosen colors and let your imagination do
the rest.
Participants will be given a canvas and colors. They can paint or draw
on subject, things that they wish. Best paintings will be recognized.

5. Short Movie Shows
Short movies related to open source and animated movies made using
open source tools will be shown in this section.
Some of the movies include,
- Big Buck Bunny
-Elephant's dream

6. Network Gaming
There will be a range of network gaming competitions in this program.
Various single and team networks games will be played. The list of
games which are going to be held are
Counter Strike/Warcraft
Total team members 5 + 1 substitute
Entry fee Rs. 1000 for a team.

Moto GP/ NFS

Entry fee Rs. 100
This event has entry fee. You can collect forms from your college
reception
8.Talk shows on Open Source
1.Talk and Discussion programs on various topics on Open Source
There will be discussions and talks on topics of Open Source from
various persons from Open Source communities and NCIT faculty members.
Participants will also get chance to have group discussions with the
resource persons.
2.Information and help on topics of Open Source
Participants can get information on various issues of Open Source with
the resource persons. They can also get help on any Open Source
related issues.
