I am using Debian Lenny (Stable Version) in my Intelx86 machine. I had run it fine for several days, but one day suddenly my screen went blank. The GUI had gone. I was experiencing slow response from the display from the start. After that there is no way I can recover the GUI. Another thing is that my "root" password also doesn't match once this happens. I have already formatted the system 3 times because of this problem and I'm afraid as it can occur again. I have experienced the problem in CRT as well as LCD monitors. But I've been said that these systems worked fine with Ubuntu 8.10 in it. I cannot figure out the problem. If anyone has got the same problem and knows the solution, please help me.
