Today I visited Campaign School in Lagankhel to see the technology in
classroom that they have been hyping about. Well, the hardware is a
projector with a clickable board. I know of whiteboards that can be
projected directly onto walls without requirements for a board. Second
they were using a software created by Manipal University in India. The
software was an educational package with provided interactive
educational experience, somewhat like what gcompris, childsplay, etc...
except based on lessons and exercises more in the line of eBarnamala. So
the main impact of the technology in the class is based on the teacher's
creation of the lesson plans.
As this is bound to be the new hyped introduction in schools, I foresee,
more than 10 - 12 schools jumping into this as soon as the next academic
season.
Ok, here is a business as well as a technology opportunity for FOSS
people. There is a desperate lack of softwares for these. So we can
build softwares for these purposes and may even sell services. Second
the hardware and integration services are there. FOSS people can do this
also.
Think about it and lets see if we can develop something out of this.
