under title FOSS Professionals<http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=77237&trk=anet_ug_hm> They asked : Free Open Source Operations Service Does anyone in the group know where one might be able to get FOSS operations advice/contracting/services. We have been doing out own operations, and the more I look at it, the more I think that it's pretty specialised. Currently we have tech support and developer team people working on it. I have been toying with the idea that this would be a good business to provide, as I suspect that lots of companies do not have the internal skills to support FOSS, and therefore would be put off adopting it. I could just see a company say "sure we could run our files Linux with SAMBA, but linux is very complicated, and the in house (Microsoft) support person, is too busy to learn a new O/S". If the company were to be committed to knowledge transfer and training, then that could be good for advancing FOSS in medium sized and smaller companies. I would really like to get some views on this, as it's starting to bug me....have a good weekend all!
