Mint is based on ubuntu. There are many alternatives for broadcom. So you 
need to try out different solutions. 

first check which broadcom chipset you have with this command 

lspci | grep -i wireless


Try installing each and test from synaptic rather than restricted driver 
interface:

bcmwl-kernel-source[This works in my dell vostro which has a broadcom 
chipset] or broadcom-sta-common or b43-fwcutter or firmware-b43-installer  
or firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
