All this discussion and no one even came close to mentioning django-cms! :-) Personally, if I was developing an open-source CMS, i'd definitely pilot django-cms and see how it is after all it is functional, secure, free(free beer) and opensource CMS based on Django - the opensource web framework developed in Python.
