Hi Rabin , HURD is a mutually recursive acronym, standing for HIRD of Unix-Replacing Daemons .where HIRD stands for HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth.
The GNU HURD is the GNU project's replacement for the Unix kernel. It is a collection of servers that run on the Mach microkernel to implement file systems, network protocols, file access control, and other features that are implemented by the Unix kernel or similar kernels GNU is another recursive acronym used here ,it stands for (GNU's Not Unix). I'd like to suggest you some more reading in this regard: * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Hurd * http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd/?C=S&O=A I know it may not be clear for you if your have been following for the first time but HTH ..
