Hi, I forgot password for ubuntu ultimate in my machine. I tried to reset the password by going to recovery mode and using passwd as suggested in http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword I got similar user interface as described in this link and was prompted to reset password as well. I typed password and it said password updated successfully. After that I went to normal boot and tried to login. But I could not login as it said either user name or password was incorrect. Then I suspected that because of num lock key in keyboard my password was not typed correctly. Then after restarting the machine and going to Recovery mode I tried to reset my password as before. But this time onwards it says *"Give root password for maintenance or Type Control-D to continue"*. I dont know my root password as well and if I remember correctly I never set root password.
