Dear all,

As earlier mentioned, I am offering web hosting to Nepali people as I know that what is offered in Nepal is unsatisfactory. I am *now *offering 100gb of webspace, with 20 MySQL databases, unlimited FTP accounts, up to 100 email accounts, unlimited sub domains, unlimited traffic on 100 Mbit Linux server with 99.9% uptime for quick and reliable connection to the Internet.

The total cost of all this is 12,000 NRS per year. If I get 100 users, I will double all the above for each and every user. Website access now has a control panel access so that you can edit and manage your own databases, domain names etc... I can also help register your international domain name for 1,000 NPR and transfer it for 1,000 NPR.

I can provide you with a free test* demo account *which you can use for 1 week to demonstrate this brilliant offer. I want to share my server space as I wish use all the money for my charity work in Nepal.

If you wish to contact me, please feel free to email me. Alternatively, I can arrange for someone to meet you in Nepal.

Best wishes,

Ian WIckens.

Hi avinash,

Saw your query on the FOSS nepal mailing list asking for Rails hosting. So most preferable one for Rails hosting would be to get your own VPS. Trust me, We at Revol-tech (http://www.revol-tech.com.np) have been building rails applications for quite a while and it would only be meaningful if you get your own VPS box set up. Although there are many services available but the best bet would be to get yourself a slice from Linode(http://www.linode.com). That is what we are using. Previously we had tried about a half a dozen services including ec2, slicehost and rackspace but nothing even comes close to the performance of linode. Hope it would help. It's not that costly considering you get your own 20GB box.

If you are want to try out other options my second recommendation would be to use heroku (http://heroku.com). But it gets really costly once you start scaling. But i doubt that. Besides they give out small applications for free (But you'd need credit card verification to use their DNS add-on). Hope it helps.

P.S :- Too bad sparrow team wont be working on further development after acquisition.
