Is you package manager able to install other packages ?
If no, what backtrace does it throw out .
You can also try to manually compile from source
http://pkgs.org/ubuntu-12.04/ubuntu-updates-main-amd64/libpython2.7_2.7.3-0ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb.htmlinstead
of using package manager.
