Sushil, Looking at it from the prespective of a creator of software: there are several business models for FOSS that work and you can read about them on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_models_for_open-source_software#Approaches .
But there is also another prespective to look at it from, that of the consumer of software. If I am company with 1000 employees then I need to buy 1000 licenses for Windows for my staff. Am I better off getting a open-source OS? Maybe, maybe not. There is the cost of support, which for Windows might come included in the price... but then again maybe I am better off hiring a team of techies to work for my company and support my open-source OS. My point is this: as a developer who is interested in FOSS you could also earn a living while working on it WITHIN an existing company that uses FOSS. -s On Fri, Mar 7, 2014 at 7:48 PM, Sushil Ale Magar <[email protected]>wrote: > Hi all, > I'm trying to get some idea about foss.
