We have planned two sets of program for SFD 2017. One happens before SFD, we generally call it 'Pre-SFD activities' and another happens on the main celebration day i.e Sep 16, 2017.
For Pre-SFD, following are the activities: 1. Online code competition - For the first time, we have started this online code competition event on Facebook called "vote the code" where one can share there work and other will make comments and votes (like) on it. Based on the numbers of votes, reactions, shares, type of comment and usability, winner will get chosen and awarded a prize in SFD celebration day. 2. Workshops - We started this to maintain the pace of the community. We have planned to conduct 2 workshop before SFD celebration day. However this will go on continuously after SFD. We have chosen these four topics to do workshops on: Cyber Security, Virtual Reality, Cloud Computing & Deep Learning. 3. FKK events - FKK for "FOSS Ka Kura" is a discussion program where we discuss about open source software, open philoshopy and technology. Generally we do this in colleges with student and with members of different communities. This time, we have planned to run one FKK with communities and several other with college students. For the main event - SFD, following are the activities: For the past few years, we have been doing speeches and stalls targeting students as our main audience but it didn't seem to create an interactive, energetic and dynamic environment. So we have planned the following for this year: This years SFD is mainly for companies & communities. Students can participate too so that they learn something new. 1. Round table discussion - We will have 2-3 or more round tables where discussion between people from different companies and/or communities will happen. Volunteers from FOSS Nepal Community will help run the conversation. Topics to discuss will be collected using Online media, communities, companies, and during the event. 2. Communities/companies hangout - This is a chance for companies and communities to build up their network. 3. Award ceremony - prizing the winner of online event. 4. Celebration - Cakes & Cokes at the beginning and high-tea in the evening. Possibly, if we see that we can manage the time we may add a '5 min talk' session where the speaker will intro something related to opensource (just probably). The SFD celebration event is suppose to run from 12 noon to 5 PM.
