I'm unsure if I missed about the explanation of 48 months in any meeting.
Can you tell me more about these 48 months goals?
The discussion about "48 months" focus
was the highlight of the innaugural
meetup".
There are 1000+ meetup groups across the
country. Some are run by students, some
by folks working in a particular area,
some by corporates marketing a product,
some by companies wanting to hire
talent, some are just there with the
idea long gone.
In other words, there is a some equation
of following parameters
* weekend free time
* floating junta
* delicious food, snacks, drinks
* possible job opportunity
* instagram friendly venue
* firang speaker
* cool topic
* corporate branding
that is working out.
A good analogy here is "weekend outing".
We have no such attractive parameters.
Unlike almost all communities, Strikr
Free Software Community is time bound
towards its goals.
Our goal is very simple (but not easy).
* focus on Infrastructure, Data Center,
Container, Kernel, Data engineering
space.
* energise the community through
learning and insight organized as
community events.
* contribute to free software projects
(GPLv2, GPLv3, AGPLv3+)
* donot contribute to open source
(includes corporate open source, open
core projects) (we may use them for
sometime)
* conceptualize and commit to new free
sofware projects that provide unique
alternatives to proprietary
infrastructure software in the market
place.
* our contributors present our unique
work at FOSDEM.
A good analogy here is "preparing for
the FIFA world cup".
Bottomline
Either we achieve the goals in 48 months
or we get out.
There is not a moment to lose !
warm regards
Saifi.
