Let's kick start our community outreach program from June end. What say?
@ragini promoting 'software freedom' and 'free software ideals' globally is an important part of Strikr vision. Here is the proposal: 0. target attract the 'right' set of people and strongly repel the 'wrong' set of people. 1. avoid shah_effect and infy_effect to prune non_contributors. Based on the learnings from 80+ sessions last year 2020 and Aahna's interaction with folks who RSVP'd on meetup, linkedin, eventbrite, facebook etc. * shah_effect: bunch of folks joined different open source projects. they were told to learn stuff in our sessions and contribute in those company sponsored open source projects. these are free_riders. * infy_effect: bunch of folks from a company scheduled their C++ training on our C++ sessions. these were free_loaders. When Aahna asked them why do they want to attend the modern C++20 sessions, the persons asked her what was her problem ? 2. three_branches * The 'MAIN' branch reflects 'broader' community outreach and second saturday every month (beginning july) should be devoted to it. JITSI session's are about free software. All are welcome. * The 'IRC' branch reflects 'daily' community hours and it is for community members helping each other on #strikr channel. We are exclusively on libera.chat website. We had exited freenode in the beginning of the year. All are welcome. * The 'ACAD' branch reflects long_term global outreach to students, researchers and faculty only. This will be multi_lingual and multi_platform depending on the geography. 3. event * scheduled second saturday of the month. * one global timing : (UTC+0000) 1000 hrs on any day. * one site to publish all events: https://strikr.io/ * attendees have to RSVP by responding to the 'event' update email on mailing list. * we will no longer use the event creation facility on eventbrite, fb, linkedin events. * one site to publish all the content: https://strikr.io/ What does everyone think ? warm regards Saifi.
