In our Saturday meet, we talk in English as common language. Will this be also affected? How to accommodate non-english speaking people here?
A very important goal is to increase GDP aka "geographic diversity of participants" ! The choice of supporting five language(s) is for written content on the website. It is a well known fact that individuals understand concepts better when it is contextualized in their own language. When individuals do an internet search content from Strikr project may show up in those results. When an individual visits the Strikr project page, (s)he may have a more positive experience on reading content. Please see the page on 'code of conduct'. We have used words from different languages to help anchor the concept. https://strikr.io/governance/conduct/ Now, when individuals from diverse geographies attend the saturday meet, hackathon or wadr there will be change in - salutation - how we say thanks - style of narration - more graphical than verbal - model of querying - nature of discussion and very very importantly - how one views or perceives This is far superior than everyone using phrases like, Yeah, Cool, Maan, F***, Wow, So, Coke, Pizza etc or some such random garbage. The world is not Github and should not be Github ! There is a - Deepak in Malaysia - Deepak in South Africa - Deepak in Jordan - Deepak in Brazil etc. We need all these Deepak(s). This will help us grow leaders who thrive in diversity. https://strikr.io/governance/leadership/ I would consider Strikr project to be successful only when we are a vibrant global project with less than 10% contributors from any one country. Hence, in an ideal scenario, the usage of English in interaction should not exceed 50%. We will all then try to learn more spoken languages and appreciate more perspectives. Increase Social diversity while strictly adhering to technical baseline. @deepak did that help you see the perspective ? warm regards Saifi.
