We continue to use GNU/Linux distro and 'package manager' for general usage.
However, effective 2021-09-01 we will NOT use package manager for the following
- GNU emacs
- GNU compiler toolchain (gcc)
- OSS PostgreSQL
- GIT
- vi (ex-vi + patches)
- SBCL Steel Bank Common Lisp
- GOOG programming language
Instead, for all intents and purposes, custom compiled software x86_64 AMD64
releases will be made available at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/strikr/files/
We will start by 'extracting' and 'configuring' the packages to '/opt'
directory.
We currently build and release the first five packages as they are integral to
all our engineering work.
The last two packages will be built so that the projects in those language
ecosystems can also be compiled instead of downloading fat binaries and being
at the mercy of package managers applying magical configurations to the
environment.
