Hi, all, Today's my dear dog's[1] 8th birthday, and i was reminded that i've been following along here for just a few months longer than that. My first exposure to Fossil was over Christmas of 2007, and its CGI support was the _absolute killer feature_ for me and my $5/month web hoster (i had thought CGI was dead, but was proven sorely wrong).
Eight years is, by leaps and bounds, the longest i've contributed to any project other than my own (and only one of my own was maintained that long), and Fossil is single-handedly responsible for my return to C, after having switched to only C++'er for years (haven't given that up, just do about 99% less of it). i recently gave a presentation at my employer's annual "Dev Day" to remind my fellow colleagues that C is most certainly _not_ dead. (Ten years ago i would have laughed at the idea of _me_ giving such a presentation, as C++ was my first love at the time.) i'd like to congratulate Richard on his wonderfully successful project, and thank him for allowing me to minion for him over the years. Here's to another eight years! [1] = https://goo.gl/photos/TC61e6DCCQ8b9u8H6 -- ----- stephan beal http://wanderinghorse.net/home/stephan/ http://gplus.to/sgbeal "Freedom is sloppy.
