Adding something like “(Cited by [b9876])” after the checkin comment doesn’t 
seem very intrusive, especially given that this is going to be an uncommon case.

If so, that argues against “Cited by,” since a cherrypick isn’t a citation.

If there’s a way to distinguish the cases, I’d suggest something like 
“(Cherrypicked in [a1234])”.  “In” rather than “as” because the merged text 
might have been modified or augmented in the checkin.
