This seems to be unique to Debian (at least it's not in OpenSUSE or RHEL). The documentation I found says > --gecos GECOS > Set the gecos field for the new entry generated. > adduser will not ask for finger information if > this option is given. This is just something that shows up in the documentation (INSTALL file), right? If you're doing RPM's for systems that don't have it, then I think you could safely just omit it. -- Chan Channing Benson Open Source / Linux R&D Hewlett-Packard Company (610) 328-3691 -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Cornec, Bruno (Open Source and Linux Technology Architect) Sent: Friday, March 06, 2009 12:27 PM To: Channing Benson Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [FOSSology] Install Problems Revisited Channing Benson said on Tue, Mar 03, 2009 at 03:36:39PM -0500: > Let me know if this gets you back on the right track. Sorry it's taken > so long to respond. I ahve one problem I'm seeing in the test I'm currently making (sorry took times on my side as well, as I needed to make some patches to project-builder to support what I neede fully). During install I have: adduser: unrecognized option `--gecos' Seems this is not a portable option (especially on CentOS 5 I'm testing now). Could you look at this ? I still have other problems that needs to be solved on my side before publishing a package usable by others (hopefully). Bruno. -- Linux Profession Lead EMEA / Open Source Ambassador \ EMEA CME Sol.
