Thanks for your interest. 1.1.0 is ready and is released, sorry that
the terminology is confusing. Please see the following page for how to
install lenny or etch: http://fossology.org/download
Debian uses an interesting scheme. The current release is always
'unstable' (e.g. sid). Stable releases (what most folks would consider
a released version) are called back ports. So don't let the back port
name confuse you. On fossology.org lenny-backports is lenny and
etch-backports is etch.
As for your question about what is closest to ubuntu 9, that would be
lenny. We don't have ubuntu packages available, and ubuntu has defects
filed against it to port fossology to ubuntu 9. While installing debian
is not quite as easy as ubuntu, it's not hard and generally 'just
works'. I would encourage you to use lenny.
