Dear fossologists, What do you think of the idea of creating a new agent that improves the accuracy of FOSSology license findings?
Nomos is an efficient way of finding hints to licenses based on specific extracts of the licenses. But with those findings one cannot be sure that the reported license is really in there. A completely new different license with the same signatures as one known by Nomos would be reported wrongly. Sure, it doesn't happen that often, but exactly those exceptional cases are usually the problematic ones when assessing the licensing situation of a package. The solution that we have in mind is to use the license texts that are stored in licenseref.sql to check if the whole text can be found (what we call a 100%-match). First we would like to get a feeling about the interest from others on this feature. I would latter post another message to the "fossology-devel" mailing list with more technical details for discussion.
