Hi, If you install FOSSology (source or packages), it is set up to perform super good on machines with 1GB RAM and 1 core.
It is important to know that FOSSology settings out of the box - and PostgreSQL settings, are kind of for the 1GB/1C configuration. For larger projects (100k files class, such as Eclipse Birt, Boost or newer versions of the Linux kernel project), 1GM RAM and 1 Core is not enough and you would need to optimize your settings: *) kernel shared memory *) postgresql configuration *) apache mod perl configuration There are a number of things for this: 1) see the wiki page providing you with the details http://archive15.fossology.org/projects/fossology/wiki/SysConfig <http://archive15.fossology.org/projects/fossology/wiki/SysConfig> 2) see the scripts in - they do mostly a good job for you https://github.com/fossology/fossology/tree/master/install/scripts <https://github.com/fossology/fossology/tree/master/install/scripts> 3) check the question on github, for example (there are others as well) https://github.com/fossology/fossology/issues/683 <https://github.com/fossology/fossology/issues/683> (I am not sure Darel, if you have already seen it, sorry for redundancy in case) On a more technical answer - you did not provide what is exactly slow - the system walks heavily through folder structure and aggregated license situation in the database tables. For large packages, also improving the work mem size in postgresql will have a good effect on what you may see now. you could set this (among the other things from the scripts) to 32MB or 64Mb and see if this improves the situation for you. Any other than that, you could please provide the package download URL that you were looking at. Eclipse Birt, which we tested for performance, is special for example and is a good special case, because the source code download has a lot of included source code *.jars that are unpacked and covered by fossology as well. If you provide the package, then we can do the test on our machines and see the execution times.
