Like you say, the survey's data seems to suggest a broader "uptake" among the respondents for open source. I don't know but I'm inclined to believe that the consensus among the members is open source, not free software then. Because we can't be sure it might be wise to do a survey at some point in future to find out what the actual consensus on this is. Although I would accept that the foundation board has a decisive role in this. Why else do we elect you guys and don't replace you with surveys? Free software vs. open source isn't a matter of just picking words, in my opinion.
