Well, I tried to do the exact opposite: from jpeg->bmp, and it was very
slow: 2.2 seconds for a 640x480 image and 0.8 seconds for a 320x240 image...
I was rather disappointed with these figures, but then again, I didn't do an
effort to optimize anything. I just got some existing software and compiled
it for the FoxBoard; please note that this software uses floating point
calculations. Maybe there are some (fixed point?) optimized libraries around
somewhere that you can use.
