Ahh hang on there,

The connectors are soldered to the FOXGM when you get it..however the
pins that fit in them are supposed to be soldered to the fox to provide
a plug/socket arrangement..the connection between the pins and the holes
in the PCB won't be reliable by just being pushed in...the reason this
is not done for you is I suspect there are many applications where you
would use a fox board and not want a full set of headers on it. Or
perhaps not want headers at all.

It could be argued that the FOX board in the FOXGM kit with the case etc
should have the headers soldered on already, but I am guessing the
problem is that the complete kits are packaged by resellers from regular
Fox board stock and desoldering the pins if they are not required is
harder than soldering them if they are required.

If you are just pushing the short end of the pins into the FOX and the
long end into the connectors on the GM board then I am not surprised
that you are getting intermittent connections between the two. You are
probably just getting lucky sometimes and getting connections through
enough of the pins for things to work sometimes. Solder the pins (taking
care not to bridge any)

If you are not fairly experienced at soldering or you don't have an iron
with a nice fine bit then I would get someone to do it for you.

Kind regards
Wayne
