What system and version are you running this on.  With a full FOXAPI install
(Ours system is an AW51C at 4.3) there should be an application called
foxtst (it used to be aistest) under /opt/fox/ais/bin that can be used to
test the interface to FOXAPI.  With the tools in there you can read a value
from a C:B.P or open a data set of C:B.P's to read data through FOXAPI.  You
can also view the data sets opened in FOXAPI (C:B.P, value and status).  It
is a pretty neat tool but not terribly user friendly.
