I asked around.
The .Compound_Dir file contains the names of all compounds to be loaded.
As a result only compounds in this file will be loaded regardless of the
compounds available on the diskette. However, if .Compound_Dir it NOT on the
diskette the compounds are loaded in what seems "random order".
So if you state that .Compound_Dir contains only one compound name, this
would be the only one loaded during load_all's.

Hmmmm, I would be interested in the save_all diskettes and how you have made
these. This is somewhat strange. We would have heard if load_all's would not
load "all" I guess...

In looking more closely at the contents of the save all diskettes I find
something peculiar (at least to me).
For savealls that can fit on a single disk, the file .Compound_Dir contains
the list of compounds as you suggest.

For savealls that span multiple disks, the content of the .Compound_Dir on
disk #1 contains only the name of the LAST compound as seen from 'ls' on the
mounted saveall and the content of the .Compound_Dir on disk #2 also
contains the name of the LAST compound on that disk. I don't know if anyone
here has actually tried to restore from these savealls but so far from what
I gather, if Foxboro uses the content of this file to restore, it wont work.
Anyone else know more about how this works?

I'm sure about the name now:
It is a hidden file: ".Compound_Dir" located in the save_all directory of
your choice.

I'm not sure about the name, but I think on the harddrive in the save_all
directory, there's a file named "compound.dir" which contains the names (in
order) of the
compounds to be loaded. This is the same sequence as they appear in in ICC.
Follow that list to create the diskette and you will be assured that the
compounds will
be loaded in the same sequence.
I believe ECB's still go first, put these on the first diskette.

Load_all's can be performed from the commandline too.
Go to /opt/fox/ciocfg/api and run load_all<cr> for some usage info.
The command take two arguments: "station" and "location/station" or the
other way around, I can never remember.
I could have them mixed up but I think:

load_all <letterbug> <location_of_savealls>/<letterbug>

comes close.

You should not need it too often I hope...
